Packaging law / labeling requirements (Italy)

The packaging law EU VO 97/129/EC in the decree 116/2020 of 03.09.2020 for deliveries to Italy requires mandatory labeling from January 1, 2023.

m+b verpackungstechnik GmbH, as a processor and manufacturer of film products, only deals in B2B transport packaging. The EU regulation 97/129/EC describes the environmental labeling of the material of the packaging by the producer, this is done by us as follows:

PE stretch film – 4 PE-LD – indication is made on the pallet label, transport documents, or on other external carriers, including digital ones.

PE stretch films are neutral, non-printed packaging, which do not provide for graphics, symbols and information and are sold in this form by the manufacturer to customers. In this case, however, there is a technical restriction on the physical application of the environmental label, with particular reference to transport packaging.

Therefore, for our packaging, which falls only in the field of B2B, the marking of the material of the packaging can be communicated by the manufacturer on the transport documents accompanying the goods or on other external carriers, including digital. For more information, click here.
